On the speaker's MAC OS Laptop:

  2. When this is done correctly, you should see Join Audio where Unmute was.

This process helps clean up audio problems but it is NOT the end all

Leave Computer Audio
Done Correctly: You should see Join Audio

USING AN AUDIO MIXER WITH AUX SEND | PREFERRED

This assumes a proper Aux Send setup where the room audio is connected to the audio mixer Main Out and the audio mixer Aux Send goes to your Camera XLR's

Turn down Laptop Audio (all the way) on the specific Aux channel pot where LAPTOP AUDIO is plugged into on the mixer.

This means that when the speaker's video or audio clips play on their laptop, the vid clip audio will only play in the room and not in your camera/headphones.

The audio will play for webinar attendees as the speaker will be sharing their audio as ticked in the Share Screen dialog in Zoom

See the video to the right for a visual explanation

Above: Aux Master is overall volume for all of your channels to camera (typically set for Unity (straight up). Each channel has a separate volume Aux fader/pot to adjust each channels volume. PRE/POST (if available) means preprocessing/post processing. What this effectively means is set for PRE - the Aux audio is completely independent of what is set for main channel levels (including if muted). If set for POST - the Aux audio is additionally influenced by changing the main channel levels.

ZOOM SHARE DIALOG WHEN SPEAKER HAS VIDEO CLIPS

  1. Make sure Speaker's SlideShow is active already

  2. Click on Share Screen button in Zoom on SPEAKER'S LAPTOP

  3. Select the screen/display where the Slideshow shows as thumbnail

  4. Select Share Sound (Do not click on Optimize for video clip initially) at bottom left.

  5. TEST! Have speaker test play video clip via Zoom Screen Share. ONLY if the video clip playback is choppy at VIDEOGRAPHER LAPTOP, return to the SPEAKER'S LAPTOP and do the following:

    1. Stop Screen Share

    2. Share Screen (At top of Zoom share dialog, select the screen/display where the speaker's slideshow is on)

    3. Check Optimize for video clip (and Share Sound is still checked also). Verify now that video clip plays smoothly at VIDEOGRAPHER LAPTOP

Only click on Optimize for video clip if the video playback on VIDEOGRAPHER LAPTOP is choppy

It is extremely important to do a sound check with CE21 for Speaker presentation video/audio clips even if you've already done a microphone check.

AN AUDIO MIXER WITHOUT AUX SEND | SHURE MICROPHONE MIXER BAD

If you have a Shure microphone mixer set up in your event room - ask the venue staff if they have another traditional audio mixer that they can supply.

A Speaker with MAC OS and vid clips (or important audio clips) does NOT play well with Shure Microphone Mixers. If you don't have a compact audio mixer that you bring to CE21 gigs, please do 100%.

AN AUDIO MIXER WITHOUT AUX SEND | ALTERNATIVE

In a nutshell: If the venue only has Shure microphone mixers, use YOUR AUDIO MIXER and when laptop audio starts playing, immediately turn down all audio to your Camera resulting in laptop audio only going to the room . Once the video clips or speaker pauses video clip, turn up audio to your camera.

AUDIO MIXER WITHOUT AUX SEND SETUP

  • Main Out/Mix goes to your camera - typically set to Unity (u)

  • Phones goes to room audio

  • Turn down Main Out/Mix to camera once any video clips plays. Turn Main Out/Mix back up immediately upon video clip ending or pausing (your hands should be on the ready on the mixer!)

    • This means that when video or audio clips play, the audio will only play in the room and not in your camera/headphones.

    • The audio will play for remote webinar attendees as the speaker will be sharing their computer audio as ticked in the Zoom Share Screen dialog
